Systems in this 25-bed juvenile facility include a redundant, centralized PLC system with computer graphic touch screens for integration of new door controls, door monitoring, CCTV camera selection, duress alarm monitoring, and intercom and paging system control.
The new Modicon Quantum PLC system was designed with redundant processors and power supplies, and an uninterruptible power supply system was provided.
The Touch Screen was Elo utilizing Monitor Pro control software. Also a new UPS was provided. The CCTV system headend was replaced with a new Vicon analog switch and DVR’s for video recording. The intercom/paging system was hard wired. All systems were powered from UPS systems.
This project included a “Hot Cut-over” to bring the new system on line without interruption in the facility’s ongoing operations. The County’s direction to HK was for us to provide designs as closely matching Mr. Hopkins’ designs that were completed for the Lewis County Jail as possible.
A key element of this project was that the original facility did not have electrically operated locks and the designs were to include surface mounted electric locks supported by surface mounted tubing for use as conduit.
